Sparklers:
Sparklers are the most common form of fireworks. There are two types of Sparklers, Metal Rod and Morning Glories. Metal Rod sparklers are cheaper than Morning Glories and normal come in two colors. Silver and Gold are the normal colors available. The other type Morning Glories have three distinct burn fazes. The stages last about 20 seconds each. The first stage is a 20 second burn of a red color normally. The second stage is 20 seconds for crackling and snapping. The Third stage is 20 seconds of a finishing color normally a green/white burn. Morning Glories are attached to a wooden handle and are safer because of this. Since they do not leave behind a hot metal rod there is less of a burn hazard. Some companies also manufacture a third kind of Sparkler called a California Candle. These sparklers are much larger about the size of a roman candle. Sparklers are the only fireworks designed for use in your hand and in most state they are one of the few legal types of fireworks.
Smoke:
Smoke are a daytime fireworks. They do not emit light only smoke. They are normally very cheap at around a $1 for six. They emit smoke for a short duration of about 1 to 2 minutes in various colors.
Roman Candles:
Begin another very common fireworks these fire one shot at a time. Some larger diameter tubes fire shots with various effects such as stars, crackle, explode, and whistle. Some of these even have effect similar to aerial shells.
Fountains:
Fountains sit on the ground and emit lights and sparks that can enhance your show. They do not launch effects into the air but spray a various color of sparks up to 10 feet in the air. The effects can be quite stunning. The larger Fountains work in a similar manor spraying colorful sparks about 10 feet in the air but last much longer than their small cousins.
Display Tubes:
These come in two types a single shot and multiple shot link together by fuzes. A single shot normal contains a single break similar to an Aerial Shell but normally include special effects not normal include in a shell. A single shot can cost around $10-$15 but, a multiple-shot tube can cost upwards to $50 or more.
Aerial Repeaters:
Also known as cakes are one of the most popular types of fireworks. They emit large bursts of color and sound. With normal 7 shots to 200 shots these are very impressive fireworks. Amounting to a show in a box at a very economical price of $8 to $15. 500 Gram repeaters have also taken the market by storm. The largest legal limit at 500 grams of pyrotechnic content. While these are much larger so is there price of $40 and up to over $100.
Aerial Shell:
Similar to Aerial Repeaters single shot shells are very spectacular. These are re-loadable unlike their Repeating cousins. The shell is placed into a tube of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) or fiberglass, or cardboard lit and sent into the sky. HDPE kits cost a little more but are much safer due to their strength. There are even multiple break shells which link 2, 3, 4 or more shells together. While these kits come at a higher price the effects are also more impressive.
