Aerospace is a growing field between aircraft and Spacecraft. Rocket development has exploded in the last few year with the X-Prize competition. While there is still more work to be done to advance rocket technology there are other technologies in the works that will give more options. The Space Elevator is one of these technologies in the works and while it is going to be expensive the idea is sound. Plasma motors are another technology coming out of the design stage and more into the real world stage.

Small light aircraft while expensive if more fuel efficent ideas can come about from them might one day to a hugh time saver for everyone. Driving your car to vaction might take 3 hours on a narrow twisting road. A light aircraft might take you only a few hours to make the same trip. Combining cars into light aircraft not only could save hundreds of miles, and time but could also in the future make roads and road maintaince a thing of the past. Only time will tell if flying cars will ever come since the cost of the vehical is so expensive.

Flight...

Flying is relatively new compare to the history of all time. We learn to fly and we are still learning to fly. The skills required to fly are not the complicated in basic flight. When compounded with more advance maneuvers flight can get very complicated, very quickly. Everyone must learn to walk before they run. The Cost to learn to fly is not completely out of reach however, it is by no means going to be free. Start with a good book before even thinking about flying. Just because you want to learn doesn't mean that you are prepared to learn at this moment in your life, at least financially. I recommend picking up a copy of:

Rocketry

Rocketry has been a very popular hobby for many years. There are many regulations to follow and so much information to learn. The National Associtation of Rocketry and Tripoli are two groups that provide many benefits to joining. Being Insured is one excellent benefit of joining these groups. Technical Support and being around others who have been doing this for a long time is sharing a learn is another excellent benefit.

Model rocket motors are rated into different classes based on how much Thrust that they can provide. There are small motors with only a small amount of thrust and then there are extremely powerful, high powered motors. The trade off from flying low powered motor to high powered motor a size and cost. The larger the motor the more money needed to lay down to purchase. The Larger the rocket motor the large field needed and the higher a low weight rocket will fly. Big motor have more rules and paperwork needs to be filed to safely fly them.

My Fleet is a growing collection of all the rockets that I have assembled. Some of these small rockets are just as much fun as the large ones. The plus of small rockets is they are much cheaper to build and to launch. The number of rocket kits that can be purchased is surprising. There are endless options for customizing your own design and either buying the parts of making your own.

Learning

Learning is a never ending life story. Building small rockets teach us how to build larger rockets. Building larger rockets teaches how to build even larger rockets. The best way to learn is different for each person. Remember to think outside the box. There are rules to control rockets and stable fly but, new ways of getting there can make a huge difference. Think about the unthought of. Remember the basic and move on. An increditable book is available from Wickman Spacecraft & Propulsion Company. This book covers a lot more than most books would ever think of. It is right to the point and covers a huge amount of information in a short amount of relative space.

Fire safety is important to keep in mind with rockets. The propellant can cause hugh fires and sparks to set dry brush on fire. Not only dry brush can be caught on fire but also your home. Store it safely, and use it safely, because no one needs a body bag. Safety is just that serious!

History of Rocketry

Rockets have been around for quite a while and they are still just in the infancy of there development. Many enjoy development of new technology and ideas to future the development. Chemical rockets gave a starting path to development nuclear rockets. Plasma and Electromagnetics one day may improve upon all the developments to date. Step inside the history of Space and Rockets as the technology is always changing.
