Astronautics is the design and theory of spacecraft.   The design and theory of spacecraft invovles technology from many fields such as chemistry in order to be built.   While Solid propellants are the most commonly used in model, mid and high power rockets liquid fuel is currently a more promising technology.  There are however other ideas that exist on how to get into space such as the Space Elevator.  While it seem to be an excellent idea it is still not quite possible yet.   While the technology exist the materials needed aren't readily available in the quantity that would be needed.   Liquid fuel rockets will remain the leading technology for quite sometime still because of this.

If your new to rocketry then stick with the model rockets for a while they work the same as the larger mid and high powered rockets but it is best to start small and work to the larger rockets then to start to big and not be able to safely work with them.  There is always danager in rockets because the fuel that they use is highly flamable and explosive in some conditions.  Keep in mind safety first and never rush to complete anything.  Take the time needed to get it done right, because the slightest mistake can cause the loss of a rocket at the least and it could cause severe injury or death so just play it safe, it's always dangerious.

The fleet that I currently have is small but I just added a new addition to it with my first mid power rocket.  The Arreaux is a kit rocket provided by Aerotech one of the leaders in mid and high powered rocket motors.   I currently do not have a launch pad which can support the Arreaux but in the coming weeks I am go to build a launch pad for it.

Hybrid engines are safer than liquid or solid engines but my I have yet to full understand what the solid part of the fuel is or how to gain access to it.

I have started my senior project at VTC and it has an application to this field.  My senior project is a Black Box like a flight data recorder but not application specific.  It could be used anywhere like a car for example but I wanted it build it for rocketry purposes.

Every state in the United States has its own regualations that must be followed.  Finding the regulations for your state is important for your safety and others you must follow them.  Finding the federal regulations for explosives is much easier.  The Federal Beauro of Alcohol, Tabacoo, Firearms, and Explosives ATF has all the regualtions available. All the publications can be found Here at the ATF.

There are many laws and regulations in regards to explosives and rockets.  Getting legal while is difficult can mean the difference between having fun and going to jail or at the least getting fined.  Detailed information about getting legal is can be found here.  The information provide many be out will be as accurate as possible but I can not be held responcable for any inaccuracy that may occur including typo's and changes in government regulations.  All links to the government sources will be provide on getting legal page.
